Will Middle East conference end a century of conflict?

The conference amounts to the first serious attempt to restart Israeli-Palestinian talks in seven years.
The most contentious issues between Israelis and Palestinians: # Palestinians want complete Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank while Israel wants to keep main settlement blocs under its sovereignty.
# Palestinians demand all Jewish West Bank settlements to be dismantled while Israel wants to keep main settlement blocs under its sovereignty.
# Palestinians demand the return for refugees and descendants of 1948-49 war while Israel believes refugees must be resettled in the new Palestinian state or where they now reside.

Peace in Mideast? The conflict there is insoluble puzzle, which anyone hardly doubts but knows that it can never be settled. The conflict is an untying knot, which is so firmly tied by Israeli confiscation supported by US that has unnecessarily intricate the issue which otherwise is meager. I may sound fanatic, but as long as US is involved – who always supported Israeli cause and pretended to solve the self created problem – no solution for the problem can be found. So, either of the two parties will not settle down until the whole annihilation will not be reached. Then, let the mess be over. But, hope that it won’t provide the spark for the vital conflict.

We should not take this peace’ nonsense any longer. Are we going to take this conference so seriously? Invite representatives of Hammas and Iran and then there’s a chance. The conference is another chance taken by ugly Bush to toughen things in the Midd east and toughening the things for the coming whosoever in power in USA. this conference is bound to fail in its mission.

Yes, it will end if all the people begin to cease and a new generation will find its way of simply forgetting about history.
It is better to talk than to continue fighting. When soldiers and governments start to realize that lives are wasted in senseless ”defense of one’s country,” then they will soon be more serious about the peace talks.
But if they still would want greater power and authority, then history goes on and on and nothing new. Expect the continuity of war and the never-ending hunt for control over each other. It is a desperate case that stands until this century.

Israel has already recognised Palestine as the state of their own but people please you do the same thing. there’s nothing wonderful than if you can even get close to thinking of peace. wat’s wrong with the way the people think nowadays. these nations can coexist and not just recognizing the fact of its existence. they understand now how important is for them to live in peace.
it’s a good opportunity to start the peace process and US should let these people live in peace without unnecessary favor to one and malice to the other.

i know one day Jews and Muslims, Israelis and Palestinians will have peace.
answering your question: Will Middle East conference end a century of conflict?
this century old conflict is not something that will be solved overnight. this might take another century to be solved but what the current conference is aiming at is how to make things better. the only way is if US and the whole Arab world come to the rescue. Palestine need aid and freezing them is only making things worse. they need peace and considering them staunch only shows world’s neglect towards them. they are as much humans as us.
we have to be positive, and start changing within ourselves first.

It even sounds Utopian, what to talk about its possibility.
As many have mentioned above, that till the time world is dependent on oil, peace doesn’t have any probability.
But we should not have a fatalist view. We need to really ponder seriously what can be done and how international community can help .
Israel even after being a democratic country has miserably failed in following international norms or laws. Its utter disregard of it has made international laws mere a formality.
The out of way support by the only superpower, US government, to Israel has further eroded belief in laws of many people, which see no way out of the their problems other than taking guns in their hands and bombs on their chest.
So before we can even think about Peace we really need to think about elevating the status of international laws.

Peace has gone for ever from everywhere. Not just the Middle East. It is no longer possible to have peace anymore anywhere with anyone, including the self...that is why we keep writing about it. It is just one of those things like goodness, love, God, happiness. So folks, let’s see how we can constructively destroy each other and finish ourselves off. Amen to this...

Well, watching the fire ruining your house will not save anything, but rushing to save will do. What I mean by this is ‘effort’. Middle east conflict will never end. Arabs want annihilation of non-muslims... but this is a free world and everyone has a right to make decisions.. and there are others who stoke fires and make conflicts deeper... so it is unlikely that these conflicts will ever get sorted out...

Centuries-old-conflicts do not end through Summits and Conferences and at least never through ”middlemen”.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal says that they do want to pretend that everything is normal and will not shake hands with Israeli officials. Now, harbingers of peace, please do not expect anything from these peace talks, rather a get-together of fools oozing with some oil and blood dragged by the west.

So before we can even think about Peace we really need to think about elevating the status of international laws.

oil-interests, there is no chance of peace in the world...the US is like a hungry animal seeking oil...it will not allow peace either in the Middle east or in the Indian subcontinent. As i maintain: Beware of Americans...
