Pakistan :

# UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband has called for Pakistan to be readmitted to the Commonwealth.
# Pakistan’s new and still fragile coalition government is trying hard to prove that democratic civilian rule can succeed and survive in Pakistan in the face of extremism and major economic challenges.
# There has been clear evidence of a continuing al-Qaeda presence on both sides of Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan.

Absolutely not, Pakistan still doesn't deserve to be taken back in Commonwealth. Let the world see how the government works in Pakistan with the President Musharraf. I am sure the coalition will no longer be in office for more than 6 months because Pakistani people are not meant for democracy.

What the hell is commonwealth? who wants to go in commonwealth? We are not interested in joining a dead group, we are not British colony now. The group is good for nothing and Pakistan have other important works to complete than re-joining such groups.

Just see the comment from Pakistan, it shows how poorly educated Pakistanis are. Developed countries should pool some funds in Pakistan and educate Pakistanis to change their mindset. They should know the importance of being a member of such international community.

Shehzad is right, the Commonwealth has become an organization good for nothing. the commonwealth has no significance at the level of international politics. I am happy Pakistan is reluctant to re-join the group.

What kind of important work Commonwealth has done in past accept meeting every year. Commonwealth should play active role in resolving different international conflicts but it couldn't do so because Britain is partner of many of such issues. Commonwealth has only ceremonial role and it has played no role in establishing democracy in any of the member country but it expels a nation on the question of democracy.

Commonwealth should be dissolved with immediate effect because there is no existence of British colony on the earth. The existence of Commonwealth is relevant today. For Australia, the British Queen might be the head of state but for other member countries it is waste of time and energy if they go and participate in Commonwealth meetings.

I am a proud Pakistani and I believe we should detach all connections from commonwealth group because it is a sign of British colonial rule over us. It reminds us the past moments of slavery. Gilani government should reject the offer it it comes to Pakistan to re-join the group.

I do not agree with my Pakistani brothers who are not in favour of re-joining the Commonwealth. After all, we can take advantages from commonwealth member countries. It is good for the students who were relying on scholarships and financial aid from Commonwealth group. What is wrong if we take aid from other countries to develop our own country?

Pakistan has so many problems to solve immediately, the country is facing tough time now. It should not waste time in joining international groups but concentrate the financial and social problems country is facing since past ten years. What would it get after re-joining the Commonwealth?

NO, Pakistan cannot go back in Commonwealth because the country has no good record in maintaining democracy, human rights, better popular governance. The country has no rule of law, people have no individual liberty and peace. Pakistan have to go far from here to be called as successful state.

There is need to re-admit Pakistan into the Commonwealth at the earliest. A new democratically government has assumed office after many years of martial/quasi martial rule.
The democratic processes need to be strengthened. The new government needs all the international support it can get. It will send a strong message to mischief-makers, not only amongst the Islamic radicals but also in the army, that democracy has got the thumbs up from both the Pakistani people and all peace loving countries of the world.
Admittance to the Commonwealth will also send a clear message to Al Qaeda/Taliban in the frontier areas of Pakistan, that the world is behind the fledgeling new government.
Any dilly-dallying would be unwise.
