# The French National Assembly has passed a groundbreaking bill which seeks to criminalise the promotion in the media of extreme thinness with a fine up to 45,000 euros and three years in prison.
# The law could also affect the fashion industry and magazine editors who publish photographs of extremely thin models.
# Pro-anorexia websites offering tips on extreme dieting are nothing new, but their growth on social networking sites is a disturbing new twist and brings them within the reach of a wider audience.

NO doubts about that, Anorexic models are everywhere teasing you on the billboards, enticing you on the telly and staring at you in the print media. The models make every women feel ashamed of her body urging them to look THIN and the result is loud and clear - Anorexia spreading its menacing tentacles across all ages. It’s time the media start projecting healthy women to curb this growing phenomena.

Media wants the world to believe that what they project as truth is always right. Media sponsored definition of beauty is to look skinny even if that means harming your self.Time has come for women to discard this herd mentality and become their real selves instead of imitating some sick models.

The degree of slimness showed by fashion models to promote various products is unachievable and biologically inappropriate as well. The media has been obsessed to present painfully thin fashion models as beauty has contributed to the growth in eating disorders among teenagers. The gap between ideal body shape and the reality has become wider at danger level.

Media including Women's magazines are not responsible for eating disorders in young women. These magazines do not promote unrealistic body images of exceptionally thin models but images of women they think as interesting, beautiful and fashionable. they don't say anyone to be like them. They present what advertisers and consumers want to see. What to eat and how to eat is a personal matter, what can media do in it.

Blame the models not the medium. Can these models sell any real products? I guess most of them can’t sell real products because they are not capable to do so. They can advertise fashion but can’t sell products. And you won’t find the products, what they advertise, in simple shopping mall only. Now, can we think what are they doing if not selling products, they are just promoting sex, semi-nude female bodies and pornography from ramp (read it wardrobe malfunction). They aren’t super-models, they are not models in fact, they are just an instrument in the hands of marketing gurus to present products with their body to promote the products.

Agreed but I would blame media also, these models are there to sell perfume and lingerie but actually they simply promote the magazine not the products because they look like porn stars in photographs appear in such magazines.

The media is responsible for the disease,it has reinforced an image of thinness as beauty, it presents slim women are successful because they are slim, so they are beautiful. It co-relates success and worth with thinness. It creates low self-esteem in average or fat girls and results in the disease, anorexia.

The individual has the intellect and sole discretion over his body. Media is only promoting good health by exercising, dieting and quitting smoking. They never insist you to be anorexic. For those who suffer from anorexia, don’t blame the media. If you need help in losing weight, consult a health professional and not simply starving yourself to death. Everyone should understand that he has his own body type.
