I agree that child molesters should be punished but not in such a barbaric way. There should be sentences of 20 years or even lifetimes. The problem is that they get leniency (especially in the US) and are out on the streets after 3-4 years. There is a TV show here in the US ”To Catch a Predator” which has proved effective. So far they have had more than 200 convictions. And it has deterred many sex offenders.
Crimes against Children involve not only molesters but goes beyond their scope. What about trafficking of children from Thailand, India, South America, Eastern Europe? What concrete steps have been taken by the governments of these countries?

I fully agree with the new proposition of castration of child sex offenders with drugs designed to suppress their libido and help them to stop preying on children.
A tougher line on child sex offenders is needed. For those paedophiles, who refuse to get treated through chemical castration should be detained behind the bards and keys thrown in the deepest pits. Paedophilia is a disorder, and it should be treated until they remain a danger.

Chemical Castration remains a cruel form of punishment. Although some states in the US have experimented with it, I can vouch that its on the verge of being banned. The American Civil Liberties Union opposes chemical castration and has said that it is a ”cruel and unusual punishment”, and thereby constitutionally prohibited by the Eighth Amendment.
Also, the treatment is warranted after a ”second” offense. That is why I stress”longer sentences”.
Furthermore, no sex offender would ”want” to be treated by way chemical castration. It can’t be voluntary.
The bigger picture - Child Trafficking provides an avenue for pedophiles where they can freely exercise their behavior and in most cases never get caught. The traffickers along with pedophiles need to be exposed and punished.

Paedophilia is a psychological disorder which needs to be cured. Chemical castration is a treatment not a punishment. One child sex offender who was arrested in Paris had said “You can’t imagine the strength of the impulse that some of us men feel to get close to little boys and commit acts that is completely forbidden”.
He said he was glad to have been arrested and happy to be in prison. Because there were no young boys, there was no temptation and so it was in prison that he felt free. These people need treatment, a way which can stop their impulses.

The victims who will never be the same again, who will be emotionally scarred for life and many grow as a paedophiles themselves to prey another innocent and so on.

It is often that we allow people to to evil by saying that it is all one mental condition or the other. Child abusers are just normal folks who have gone rotten.

If chemical castration was an answer to molesters...then we would not have been debating on issues like ’life imprisonment or death’...
punishments like this will do no good to either the society or the offender...the best lies in an approach that will make them realize that they have done wrong and to take them on the right path once again..coz whatever it may be...we cannot deny that even those offenders r humans first...something with them has just gone wrong somewhere...and that is what needs to be corrected...

I completely agree with boneidle. It is not only males who are sex offenders (child or general), females too are. So what do you do to them? Clitoris circumcision (female genimal mutilation) might be a way out using chemicals for anesthetic purposes.
Perpetual sex offenders have psychological problems and the problem can only be cured by drugs and counseling focusing on the mental aspect only. It is like arguing that a kleptomaniac should be kept on sedatives so that he can’t think or paralyze his hands with drugs so that he can’t steal.
