First of all, define classification of rape and other sexual crimes and the punishment for each of the crime. The damage done to a child, who has been raped, is incurable and it lasts till the end of life. the case of Child rape should be settled in one hearing and the child rapist should be eliminated by execution in public.

Child rape is horrible but the death penalty should not be awarded to anyone. Murder can't solve the problem. Such laws would increase the number of false cases of child rape, it would become an instrument to execute anyone.

When it comes to rape, the rapists must be stripped and flogged in public just to experience the humiliation that he has inflicted on his victim. Then he must be fined and let away. A long term punishment for say 20 years is more than enough for a crime that has not taken the life away from a human being. The loss of dignity or self esteem of the victim can be gotten back but executing a criminal is doing to put a period in his life. So the punishment is disproportionate to the crime.

Isn't the penal system meant to reform and rehabilitate criminals? If that is so what is putting a man to death is going to achieve? A welfare state has no provisions for such unusual and cruel punishment. Asking for death penalty is like asking for bestial retribution. We are not living in the dark ages. USA is not China or Iran.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! This will mean that the rapist will be more inclined to kill the child in fear of being caught and subsequently sentenced to death. Death is the only punishment for rapists, esp child rapists. The guys who rape children have no heart or mind. They are beyond any reform. It is a fact that societies where there is no death penalty or long term prison sentences are relatively safer than the countries where punishment is harsh. Take for example the United States of America. The jails are full of criminals. Yet the crime rate in the United States of America is more than that of an European country like Spain or Portugal.

Guys who commit rape on minors are mentally sick people most of whom has traumatic or deprived childhoods. They must be treated with compassion and must be made to undergo psychiatrist treatment while being in prison. Second offenders can be considered for life imprisonment but death penalty will not solve any problem.

It is now well known through many experiments, studies and researches that pedophiles can not be rehabilitated. They are perennially sick and is incapable to respond to any treatment as found in some Scandinavian countries where such cases have been abnormally high. A child who is raped is likely to be scarred and traumatized for life. The society is not the place for these predators as they will return to their old ways if let off with a milder sentence than execution or life behind bars.

I do not believe that pedophiles cannot be treated. It is just an aversion and the society must be willing to be patient in dealing with them. It needs time but putting a man to death for pedophilia is extreme and dangerous for the society as it will only encourage short cut methods for convenience.

Child rape is the most heinous crime. I mean if a person is so much carried away by his libido that he targets innocent children and forcefully relieves himself, then its no wrong in saying that these jerks have no right to live in this world.

As an afterthought, along with castration, their fingers should be amputated (five each from both the hands!). Rape by definition has various meanings in various legal systems around the world. In some countries having consensual sex with a 16 year old girl is considered statutory rape even if the guy who has sex with her is 18 years old or maybe even 17. Then in some countries such as India, only penile insertion in the vagina of a victim amounts to rape and not anal, oral or insertion of digits, objects in the vagina that means outraging of modesty. So what should be the criteria for death penalty for rapists who many not be rapists in the real sense or non-rapists in the legal sense?

Death penalty for pedophiles who are rapists by definition of statutory rape? The very thought is horrifying. The pedophiles themselves are more likely to have been victims of abuse. And would anyone answer why the society is full of them? There must be a socio-genetic connection that makes a man or a woman a pedophile. Would you like to see the 23 year old female school teacher being executed for having sex with her 13 year old male student? I thought the 7 year sentence was too harsh, forget about death penalty. Death penalty for even murder has failed to achieve any purpose in America. Murder rates in America have increased over the years and countries that have abolished death penalty ironically have become much safer to live in.
