YES
# The accused should be tried openly in a civilian court of law, there has to be complete transparency no matter if they are terrorists.
# America is failing to practice what they preach when it comes to safeguard people’s rights.
# Unless the alleged criminals have been convicted of crimes against the U.S. they should not be denied the right to a fair trial and adequate defense.
NO
# People shouldn’t have sympathy with these terrorists – they must be given what people on twin tower got that day.
# They have been treated with far more dignity than any of them deserve, unlike the innocents they murdered or plotted against.
# Since 9/11 was an attack on America soil and its completely an American issue what they do with the accused.

this constitutionally dubious legal proceedings are already triggering a firestorm of anti-American sentiment in the Islamic world. if not stopped would give Laden inc. another reason to call for more volunteers to fight the US. Truth and Transparency is the key to peace.

I am not in favor of the trial of these people in US whatsoever the court laws for that matter is – civilian or military. There is hardly any doubt that these people will meet justice in any of the US court irrespective of the atrocities or the degree of the crime they have committed. Though I don’t close the eyes to their crime yet the trial in the UN tribunal would be more fair.

it’s hardly a matter of concern which court they should be tried in, but they deserve only one punishment…death and nothing else for killing more than 5000 ppl…they don’t even need to be tired but hanged for that. Such ppl should have no existence but alas! We are still thinking in which court they should be tried…whether tried or not…these things are considered for humans only and these ppl are not humans but beasts…and deserve nothing but…DEATH SENTENCE

This is not the question of debate. This is internal matter of USA and why would people of other parts of the world bother what US should do with the accused of 9/11. Stop putting such questions for debate on global platform.

I do agree with Yash. Stop giving 9/11 attack unnecessary importance after even seven years. India has been the victim of several terror attacks after the 9/11. Do raise the question who is funding the terror outfits, don't raise such questions here.

Where is the question of trial, shoot the accused in their hearts or hang them in public without even establishing any charge.

“they should not be denied the right to a fair trial and adequate defense.” Did those ill fated on 9/11 get anything fair then why these convicts should be treated fairly??? Additionally it never ceases to let me shock me that these ppl are still alive! They have not been treated that much badly for they actually deserve more bitter treatment in comparison to those they murdered or plotted against.

All accused are not terrorists. They have the right to get fair trail and enough space to present their own ground during the trial. Civil court is the best place for the trial of course.

Trial in military court is ok, no need to go in civilian court.

Several Human Rights groups have already blamed that military trails couldn't be fair and transparent. they have even presented some substantial evidence that the defendants were tortured during their detention.

No need to discuss, do the Americans discuss about trails in other countries?? let them do what they are doing with accused of 9/11 attack.

Amnesty International says ill treatment of prisoners of 9/11 was "just one flaw of a commission system set up precisely to obtain convictions under lower standards than would apply in normal courts".

This is the time to bring the masterminds and planners of 9/11 to justice now.

Prosecuting these accused and possibly giving them capital punishment fundamentally flawed military commissions is not justice at all.

the world witnessed the 9/11 and now they should know the fate of culprits. Everything should be open and they should be tired in the civil court. why to hide anything if they have got enough proofs against culprits. There should be no room for alleged tricks by the expected plot theorists who in charged that have taken years to be laid. However, there should be no relaxing whatsoever for such a heinous deed.

hah… you all ppl arguing for the death penalty!!! why should we give them the easy punishment like death by hanging…no way, if they are guilty in supporting 9/11 they should only be given life sentence!!! let them wait for the death – inch by inch. They will be waiting and waiting but death wouldn’t come to them hanging them would be an easy sentence. let them languish…let them rot away gradually they should be devoid the dignity of a quick death.

there is no other metaphor for US than “Hypocrisy”, they are hanging the so called culprits, fair enough if they’re guilty but what US did post 9/11 is more abhorrent and destructive than the attack on the world trade center was. Even after toiling for more than six years in war against terror there are no full stop on the possibility that such an attack will not be repeated, then what is the good out come of this bloody chase that killed US soldiers and the civilians equally in Iraq and Afghanistan. More sad to see torture that is named as "waterboarding" techniques which CIA used in guntanamo or otherwise, Blaclwater episode… Where is the justice???? US is guilty against humanity in Iraq and Afghanistan. They deserve punishment and it makes me sick to the stomach hearing that military idiot stand there and actually read them out. Where is the justice for those living in Iraq? Where's their compensation?

The fact remains, ”unless proven guilty, the accused deserve fair trial.” They are not yet considered criminals. That is what we mean by being human to treat anyone in a common ground.
Everyone deserves to protect himself from any accusation. Mere accusation without evidence does not translate to conviction.
We may never know that some of these accused may in real life be the innocent people and the real criminals are still at large. The authorities perhaps were pressured to produce identities as ”captured” guinea pigs for trial.
Certainly, we all want justice in the 9/11 attacks. But justice can never be met if we ourselves are unfair and bitter. Convictions of any accused will not be enough for the lost loved-one. Losing someone is priceless. Real justice comes from God. Men’s laws are temporary in perspective, but the wrath of the Almighty is endless. Real justice prevails in God’s time.
Let the U.S. courts decide on the matter. No nation should interfere in their existing affairs. But we should be vigilant against all forms of terrorism in our own homeland. We should also be watchful that in some way we may be imbibing terroristic thinking toward the accused.

Question doesn’t arise. The terrorists are killing 10s of 1000s of innocents every year all across the globe. They call themselves the Army of Allah in various forms - Lashker-e-Toiba, Hizbullah, Hizb-e-Muhammad, Al-asqa Martyr’s brigade.
The captured ’fighters’ don’t want to be categorized as ad hoc gun totters but different divisions of General Muhammad’s army bequeathed by the Lord himself.
Now that they are ’willed’ by their Allah himself, let them fight a military tribunal. I would be happy if they really face a literally Kangaroo court that was held by the Aussie military at the end of the WWII where the Jap military war crims were tried for their Ambon massacre. [Ref: The movie - Blood Oath or Prisoners of the Sun based upon a true incident]

It is not a question of which country the crime was committed in, the heinous actions of the so called ’jehadi’s’ were targeted at innocent, helpless, unarmed humans, which stands as one of the most barbarous act in recent history. These self appointed messengers of Allah need to be treated with no sympathy. Life of a fellow being cannot go cheap....these people should be washed away from the face of earth, they simply are a shame to humanity!

Ya sure go on hang them...like thats gonna make a big impact on the so called jehadi movement...The moment they were caught they knew their fates were sealed, death was inevitable, these men are machines, bound by orders, not allowed to feel whether their actions are right or wrong, duh!! you feel they fear death..but what next after killing them.Hanging couple of criminals, will it be considered a victory over terrorism? The answer’s a big NO,the real masterminds are lying safe in the background, the subject of trial is too TRIVIAL to be discussed.Of course they deserve punishment for killing the innocent No question about that. But whosoever feels Iraqi war was wrong should reconsider with all the Chemical and Biological weaponry Saddam had hoarded, posing a humongous threat to the whole world..So won’t that be considered safeguarding people rights?Such training camps,’camps’ sure sounds like a small word, where they are taught to kill should be wiped off from this planet but not at cost of the lives of the innocent.
