school shootingThe Northern Illinois University shootout today comes 10 months after 32 students and staff were shot dead by a Virginia Tech University student. It is also the fourth shooting at a US education establishment in a week.

# Any attempt to control the right to possess guns is considered to be a violation of American constitution which mandates “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

# Owning firearms is embedded in the American psyche like a splinter of flint, jagged and immovable.

# No gun law proposals tackles the problem of removing the vast number of guns that are already in circulation in US.

Fascination for guns is never the cause of the school shootout. This is a crime and security is too laxed in the school.

This case may happen everywhere, anywhere. But certainly the presence of guns and making it legal in possession in the U.S. has risks to take.

there's no fascination for guns in US. it's all that there are more loners on the streets and more drug addicts than it used to be even in those good old Rock n Roll days.

Hey PEOPLE stop this debate right here if you don’t wanna see these incidents happening again. The media is giving these killers what they want – FAME. These losers want to go out as celebs and with FOX news giving it minute by minute coverage solves the killers purpose and thereby motivating some more AHs in the coming days. If the sensationalist media stops giving these psychos exactly what they want…we are surely gonna see less of them around.

What else you can expect in the society where violence is the sole answer of every problem. Of course this is fascination and school going teenagers carry guns to show their superiority over their friends. Violence in mind does force them to use the guns without thinking the results.

I am afraid and scared for school going teenagers in United States whose lives are surrounded by guns even in schools. The Northern Illinois University shootout is one of the several recent tragedies that US teens had to endure unnecessarily. It should be stopped now.

It is great trouble. My heart cries for every teenager affected by this tragedy. This is because of affection to guns that the student chosen to solve his problems with using the gun, otherwise he would have chosen some other method to solve his troubles. The American authorities should spot such teenagers to get them help.

Judicial system in US should slap death penalties to murders and media should report each of such executions so that teenagers know what he will get in return if they commit crime like murder.

No question of gun fascination. Such shootout are not result of American gun culture because keeping guns even in schools in nothing new in US. My grandmother used to keep gun with her when went to school in rural Arizona just to guard against snakes. When my father started going Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, he and some his friends used to keep guns for hunting, it was popular even in those days. But no school shooting cases came out till 1960-70. Here, something different is working on and media is playing key role in provoking teens to use the guns or showing the stories of mafia so regularly.

Don't blame gun fascination for such cases. I am a 20-year old gun owner and hunter. I belong to the family which has a history of gun owners. We never used our guns for killing any one but we like guns.

This is not true. Several Americans do teach teens in their families about gun safety, respecting others and tips for anger management and effective conflict resolution. Fascinations to guns is something different and can't be linked with such incidents.

There are segments of the population in every country who feel very desperate because of social problems they face and turn to violence just to solve their problems. This is what happening in US.

One can't blame guns, problems in society, media showing violence, parents, school, family culture, state, or anything else for such shootout cases. Such cases happens because the rage inside person force him to throw it all away and take out his anger on others.

In United Kingdom also there are so many so many social problems but you can hardly see teenagers going to school and shooting people. It doesn't happen in UK because the teenagers don't have access to guns so easily as in the US.

It is serious problem growing in US society. There are so many ways to release your anger or frustration. Killing anyone is just extreme and completely unacceptable in any civilized society.

Guns don't kill people, Its the people who kill people. It happens in mind first and if you are angry with that much violence in mind you can kill someone with even small knife and hammer also. Don't blame guns for such shootings.

Ban the nuclear weapons first before imposing bans of guns because it kills more people at one time than any gun would.

I do agree with Lauren. Just put a loaded gun on a table and watch it for hours from a distance. It will never fire until you become involved in using it. Now, don't say that guns kill.

In this developed country one thing that has deteriorated with this development is moral values. people rate money and work more importantly than their personal relation’s. the negligence of parents towards their children is one major cause behind these kind of events. what they need is proper guidance that can be only provided by their parents. Home is the first school for every human to learn.

Parents in United States have no time to take care of their children. The ignorance they face from their own parents is the sole cause of such violence in schools.

It is just an advice to parents anywhere in the world - Start spend enough time with children, support them and let them feel that you are there for them, they are not alone. This is the single answer to such problems.

I don’t really believe that school shootouts are a result of American’s fascination for guns. Yes, I agree that there is a very loose gun control policy there. The US citizens are guaranteed by their constitution to own and bear arms. The pro-gun lobby is very strong and thus no substantial legislation could be passed yet. As a result, the US has the highest number of gun bearing citizens in the world.

With easy access to arms, mentally sick people carry out these carnages for their 5 minute of fame. They are actually losers in life and thus want to go out with a bang. This is just for grabbing attention.
