Good because of the way it brought people together, bad because the overall benefit did not outweigh the cost (that is, until we started heading back towards the moon instead of circling the globe like lost children).
As far as global cooperation goes, that is (sadly) a fantasy. Human history has shown that people will work together for common interests for a short time. Once Russia, China, US, etc. establish their regions on the moon and Mars, it will probably be competition all over again (and maybe wars in the distant future for resources).
For now we are working together for the benefit of the world. At least I can be thankful for that.
