Venezuela :
# Ecuador and Venezuela have announced they are sending troops to their borders with Colombia, in response to the killing of a FARC leader in Ecuadorian territory.
# President Chavez, a fierce critic of Washington, called Colombia “a terrorist state” and warned US not to turn Colombia into “Israel of the Americas”.
# Nicaragua, led by the former revolutionary and Sandinista guerrilla Daniel Ortega, also condemned the killing of Reyes, saying that Mr. Uribe had killed the possibilities for peace in Colombia.
# BBC analyst Warren Bull says “despite the threat of war by Mr. Chavez, it is hard to see the situation escalating into a full-blown conflict with Colombia.”

I have always thought of Chavez as a peaceful man. this must be of course United States' fault. United States have meddled in Venezuelan affairs long enough and now i think the frustration that Chavez and other leftist are feeling after one of their close ally is killed with the help of USA..Colombia will have to bear the consequences with all of its neighbors kicking the shit out of them.

This is a make or break phase in S America and a big blunder on Chavez's part. they are unnecessarily trying to escalate the situation that can turn into a mess with just a gun shot on either side.

War???!!! are crises and the conflict that goes on is less than a war???? what else you call as war!!!I don't understand war anything more than that. nonetheless the best way to stem the war would be for the government in Columbia to surrender to FARC. The problem is that government by corruption, as in Italy, will make any country poorer.

so the Israel of the Americas will be the target now..what would happen if Chavez orders to blow the hell up in Colombia? will US of A come to its rescue? will US be saving some of the ass kicking from the leftists? i hope not.
this time it can be the moment for the anti US lobby of the Latin to prove that there's no point US can hold its dominance in almost every corner of the world. I somehow feel that this war that to me seems imminent will prove US has lost the clout to communists be it Latin, Asia or Middle East.

this is a common thing now!!!no awe aspiring. having done so, The US, Turkey, Israel and now columbia is nothing surprising but something that the world is getting accustomed to. Uribe is a puppet dancing to the US tunes that always bothers nothing but its interests. And if this is the solution to the present problem, I see nothing wrong therein. They are a legitimate struggle. Lets not forget the US support of the Contras.

The two countries had similar situations before and it will happen in the future. These are the world's two of the worst run countries where crime, unemployment, drug and gun running is common.
I still don't think there would be a full fledged war. The USA won't let that happen.

Colombia is one of the countries that the US is trying to use to balance the maverick Chavez's Venezuela thus irking the volatile man no end. This is a dangerous game that the US must stop at once. Venezuela won't hesitate to use force against Colombia thus bringing untold misery to the already miserable people in the region especially Colombia where they are torn between rebels, government troops and drug lords.

Let Chavez come in with his troops and we shall show the difference between his military and ours. We are fighting a long war for decades with Venezuela and Ecuador backed terrorists. So war is not new for us. It is for Venezuela. Then Chavez must not forget that his economy will collapse should his oil facilities are hit.
