There is no answer to the people like Prabhakaran, he is mentally sick and loves violence. No government in Sri Lanka can stop the LTTE from spreading violence and killing innocent people. Their mental problem are are beyond treatment. Killing these terrorists is the only alternative to bring peace in the island country.

I do hope for the best always despite such terror attacks in country. Srilankan government is trying hard to ensure peace to stop violent attacks and I am confident that people supporting violent means would be wiped out from our society.

People in Sri Lanka should learn from neighbor country India to pracitce non violence to fight with evils. Minister de Silva has said the same to the countrymen that no need to learn non violence from western countries, which are themselves the perpetrators of violence. They don't know about the ground reality of the country.

@Himanshu, you have no idea about the history of Sri Lanka and what exactly minister De Silva said. He said that Sri Lanka has a history of 2500 years of non-violence. But it has been destroyed by LTTE terrorism. He said that the western countries should talk about their own history first before teaching Sri Lanka about non violence.

South Asian region has become the most volatile regions in the world and the conflicts have gone deep in deep cultural diversity in countries in the region. Several religious, ethnic, and tribal groups are engaged with one another in violence. The government have no control over these groups spreading violence in that part of the world.

European countries are gravely concerned about the continuity of violence in Sri Lanka. Here is a suggestion to the Sri Lanka government to introduce a power sharing plan with LTTE as a political solution to stop the violence. It would work to establish long-term peace in country.

You can find several divisions on ethnic lines in Sri Lanka that contribute to conflict, violence and instability. The strong political structure can only address the problems of violence and conflicts. Division of power till the last man standing to make them feel responsive in the governance is necessary to stop violence in the country. First political structure and then educational awareness would definitely solve the problems.

Canada always supports policies of freedom, democracy and human rights for people living in almost every part of the world because these are the global issues. Canada is also concerned about the increasing violence in Sri Lanka and the deaths of civilians and humanitarian workers in the violence. The island government should take strong action and should change its policy of governance too.

Canada is concerned?? Are you ok Timothy? We know that Canada banned LTTE some years ago but still the LTTE is getting funds from sources in Canada. The recent arrest of individuals linked to LTTE on charges of illegal fund raising has revealed their link with people in Canada and other western countries. You have no right to talk about steps to stop LTTE-sponsored violence in Sri Lanka.

Without showing strong and determined approach to counter LTTE activities in country, the Sri Lankan government cannot stop these terrorists from killing innocent people. Against violent oppression, violent resistance is moral so start killing LTTE cadres wherever you find them.

It is more a social problem than a political one. The Sinhalese majority won't let the country to become a two states separate from Tamils and Sinhalese. LTTE won't accept less than an independent state so the war will go on till long.

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam cadres, LTTE should be shot in head for killing countless number of people in Sri Lanka. The tigers are Neo-barbarians and they should be combated militarily, they deserve it only.

To me the whole war, which has claimed so many lives, looks like a farce and nothing else.

was there ever a real truce in sri lanka? i don't think so. if the ltte called for truce it was only because to regroup and rearm. this time the sri lankan government must do all it can to strike the final blow on the terrorist group and eliminate its leader. we had too much of bloodshed in our country and if peace comes at the price of a large number of lives, we must not hesitate. the final and decisive offensive against the ltte the call of the hour.

Yes it is faltering but whose fault is it? Sri Lankan government is making all sorts of efforts to see the war end so that peace is given a chance. The LTTE has not accepted getting in to mainstream Lankan politics. All it wants an improbable separate country that it is never going to get. The LTTE has lost is sympathy amongst traditional sympathisers such as India. It is now a purely terrorist organisation seeking to keep the Lankan military at bay by terror tactics or instigate the government to launch offensives further alienating the Tamils living during ceasefire on the line of fire between the two warring sides, and hoping that they would join the ranks of a rapidly declining LTTE force.

I don't think so because in this continuous war we see would continue to see one or two major assassinations a year. This is normal in Sri Lanka. Abnormality would be when we stop seeing violence of the kind we witnessed in the last few days. It only shows that there is business as usual. Nothing to get alarmed of.

When will we stop hearing about Tamil problems in Sri Lanka? I have grown old with it. It is high time that regional powers sit together and ask the LTTE to give up violence and if it does not listen then impose a naval and land blockade and lay a seize for a few years and brutally retaliate any forceful attempts by LTTE to break the seize. The civilian population in the LTTE controlled area will make sure that the outfit gives up the path of violence.

Sri Lanka has always been a victim of its inner bloodshed that have kept the govt. guessing. The aforesaid cease fire needed to be extended a little further to allow the inhabitants a good atmosphere to breathe in. Though tried several times in past, there should be fresh rounds of deliberation to come up to a consent and settle the matter for good.
